heat island | watch this space, alice springs | friday 12th- 27th april 2019

heat island presented findings generated via an ongoing period of attentiveness to the coles carpark. The carpark, as locals know, is an exquisitely wild hub of the present-day town Alice Springs, built on apmere Arrernte-kenhe known by other names, including Mparntwe. While the site appears defaced by the violent tenure of privatisation and its enforcement on variant bodies, it is defiantly exuberant with exchange. Here I study this one thing as a way into everything, imagining the carpark with objects from a tentative near-future, a recent past recalibrated in a present sensation and materials from an ancient wobbling world.
